Brutus - Item #100

Brutus - Item #100

21 Inches High x 10.5 Inches Wide x 11 Inches Deep

This life-size bust depicts one of the assassins of the Roman dictator Julius Caesar. The original piece includes a bust clothed in a toga. Michelangelo began the piece and then had his friend Tiberio Calcagni continue the work. Both artists died before it was completed, however, leaving a roughly-carved sculpture to the world. The detail of this piece in our collection may be less defined than that of the original sculpture due to a succession of molding and casting. These photos accurately depict the definition of detail for this reproduction.
