Poe - Item #413
Â
17 Inches High x 12 Inches Wide x 12 Inches Deep
This modern sculpture of the head of Edgar Allan Poe (1809-1849), the famous American writer and poet, was sculpted by American George Aarons (1896-1980). Aarons was an abstract artist and teacher who sculpted both in clay and by carving in wood and stone. His locality to P.P. Caproni and Brother gave him a well-established resource for moldmaking and plaster casting. The Caproni company, which often collaborated with contemporary artists to make and sell reproductions of their work, listed casts of the head of Poe for sale starting in the early 1930s.
